Scaling & Polishing
The purpose of scale and polish is to remove any tartar and plaque deposits that build up on your teeth over time.
Scaling refers to the first stage of removing the deposits of plaque and tartar, using ultrasound scraper and specialised handheld instruments.
The next stage is to polish the teeth to smoothes away minor imperfections and patches of rough texture on the teeth to protect against further plaque build-up.
A dental filling is used to fill a cavity (a hole that has formed in your teeth) or other damage such as a chipped tooth. Cavities get bigger over time, so the sooner they’re spotted and filled, the less likely you are to have problems later.
Without treatment, a cavity or chipped tooth can lead to toothache, bad breath, infection, and even the fracturing or loss of your tooth.
Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Wisdom teeth removal means having one or more of the third molars (your wisdom teeth) at the back of your mouth taken out. This can sometimes involve a surgical procedure.
Your wisdom teeth are the last four of the large grinding teeth (molars) at the back of your mouth to come through.
Sometimes, your wisdom teeth don’t come through properly, meaning they’re impacted. This can cause problems such as pain, swelling and infection. Having your wisdom teeth taken out can ease these symptoms.
A crown is a tooth-shaped cap that is placed over the entire visible portion of your tooth. It’s a permanent solution for a damaged tooth and once it’s fixed in place, a crown will look, feel and function just like any other tooth.
Crowns are usually needed if you have a damaged or weakened tooth that cannot be fixed with a filling.
Crowns can be made from ceramic (such as porcelain), metal (gold or metal alloy), or a combination of both.
A dental bridge is made up of two or more crowns (depending on the number of missing teeth) that cover the teeth on both sides of the gap. They are known as anchor or abutment teeth, and the false teeth, named pontics, lie between them. The pontics (the false teeth) can be made of porcelain, metal alloys, gold or a combination of these different materials.
Dentures are a trusted and effective way to replace missing teeth. They are removable plastic or metal frameworks that carry single or multiple false teeth. If you choose to replace missing teeth with dentures, they will be custom made to fit the size and shape of your mouth, making them feel and look as natural as possible. Depending on how many teeth you have missing, you may have a full or partial denture.
Everyone would love to have a white and natural-looking smile but there are so many teeth staining factors in our daily life such as coffee, soda, tea and that occasional glass of red wine. So how do we get that splendid selfie-worthy bright smile?
At NoFrills Dental, we offer patients a number of professional chairside teeth whitening brands; Opalescence Whitening and Philips Zoom Whitening. Results are noticeable after a single session that lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.
Invisalign is a virtually invisible and removable braces that helps you to transform your smile in a specific and comfortable manner. Invisalign aligners are transparent and custom-made to progressively straighten your teeth without using any metal wires or brackets. The aligners look like clear, flexible retainers and are removable, so you can remove them when eating or brushing your teeth.
Orthodontic treatment helps to straighten your teeth so you’re able to care for your teeth and gums more easily, and improving your bite so you can eat more comfortably. And your smile will benefit, too.
Treatment almost always involves using braces to straighten crooked, crowded or protruding teeth, close gaps between teeth, and correct the bite so the top and bottom teeth meet when the mouth is closed.
Oral Surgery & Pain Management
All on 4
All on 4 dental implants is a revolutionary treatment which allows a whole set of new teeth, also known as an arch, to be supported by just 4 dental implants. The All on 4 implants are positioned at precise angles to provide optimum support for the arch and complete stabilisation for your dentures.
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment, also known as endodontics, is required when the blood or nerve supply of the pulp is infected. Possible causes of infection are decay or trauma. In the early stages of the infection you may not feel any pain. In some cases, if the nerve of the tooth has died or is dying, the tooth will darken in colour. This would need root canal treatment.
Implants are the modern way to replace missing teeth. The implant, which is made of titanium, is fitted in bone where the tooth root would normally be. When fully integrated to the bone, a post or abutment is attached to the implant and a crown, bridge or denture is then placed over the abutment to replace the missing tooth or teeth.
Periodontal disease is the Number One cause of tooth loss amongst adults. This is because a certain number of people (15-20%) have immune systems that overreact to the bad bacteria in their mouths. When this overreaction occurs, the immune system attacks and breaks down the bone and tissue that surround the tooth. This destruction is not predictable and can occur sporadically hence it is important to do routine dental check-up.
